Receiving Jesus

Receiving Jesus is receiving everything one needs to be saved.

2 Peter 1:1-3: Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ: 2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, 3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

Receiving Jesus is receiving the One who has ALL power.

Matthew 28:18: And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

Receiving Jesus is receiving the One who has power to forgive sins.

Luke 5:24: But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house.

Receiving Jesus is receiving the One who has power to make us children of God.

John 1:12: But AS MANY AS received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Receiving Jesus is receiving the One who has power to make us new creatures.

2 Corinthians 5:17: Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Receiving Jesus causes us to be born again. Becoming a son of God, becoming and new creature and being born again refer to the same thing.

John 3:3: Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Receiving Jesus is receiving the only One who provides access to the Father.

John 14:6: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Receiving Jesus is receiving the life that is in Him.

1 John 5:11-12: And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

I believe that every verse in the Bible that deals with salvation should be studied with one eye on John 1:12 and 1 John 5:12.

Salvation is a miracle. In fact it is a bunch of miracles. All who have not done so need to receive Christ into their hearts and ask Him to do His miraculous saving work there. Because of Who He is (The Supreme Authority) and who we are, (lost and rebellious) receiving Him is a surrender.

Try it . . . you*ll like it.

Psalms 34:8: O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
